  • Thoughts on Productivity

To be more productive in life, become a project oriented person, aim high, and take steps to stay focused.

    • Become project oriented. Think up and research ideas that can make a positive difference in the world.
    • Aim high. Prioritize what you could work on according to the value it can bring and do not undersell yourself on the kind and size of projects you can work on.
    • Focus. Take steps to help you stay focused (see Thoughts on Focus)

  • Thoughts on Focus

To become more focused and goal-oriented, it is better to work on setting up a work conducive atmosphere, rather than rely on pure discipline. To that end, following are some practical steps:

    • Declutter. Do away with distractions in your living space and on your computing devices. Maintain an environment that is minimal, beautiful and clean.
    • Map. Create and maintain a list of all your goals, plans, wants and desires, etc. Visit this whenever you start your day to affirm what you want to do for the day.
    • Entertain Make the mundane parts of your activities less so. For example, have something of interest to you play in the background like a long format podcast, an interview, a cooking show or whatever else. It should be something that could keep you entertained, but not require your constant attention.

One more thing. Be very mindful of your goals and the impact they have. Not everything that is success in the eyes of others is true success.

  • Thoughts on Education

In order for an education model to cultivate geniuses it should primarily aim to inspire, facilitate and guide.

    • Inspire students to see the beauty and utility in any given subject.
    • Facilitate access to the best quality resources. (Reading material, audiovisual material, equipment, facilities, etc.)
    • Guide students towards independent exploration and support them in that journey.
As an acronym, I label this model as FIG (Facilitate, Inspire, Guide)

The model has a focus on nurturing the two most important qualities of curiosity and self-capacity to learn.
